Ynet is a non profit organization providing Internet connectivity on the various campuses of Slovak University of Technology, technological education, community events and a lot more.
During my studies at the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies @ Slovak University of Technology, I was living at one of their dormitories, where they are active, therefore I applied to be a volunteer as a Network Administrator.
My roles were administering the network, connecting/disconnecting users to the network, solving connection problems that hey had and fixing configuration problems. Occasionally we were also providing replacement cables, connect new floors of the dormitory to the network or also modernize the existing network infrastructure.
Roles included but were not limited to:
- Adding and removing devices to/from the network
- Maintenance of the network devices (switches, end-user devices)
- Helping out with construction of new network cable infrastructure
- Supporting other students with their issues
The volunteer work ended when my status as Student ended. While working as a volunteer, I’ve found my first job at Prime Interactive.
