This is the point in time, where my ServiceNow journey started in July 2016. The Job Posting did not even mention ServiceNow if I remember correctly, all it said was “Javascript Specialist”.
I’ve found out about ServiceNow at the interview itself, back then, my intention was to stay just for a while, until I find something else… the rest is history.
Javascript Specialist (ServiceNow Consultant)
The role name was Javascript Specialist, but actually, I was a ServiceNow consultant. Being a newcomer, I did start in a Junior Role, my responsibilities were mostly implementing the already defined Tasks, these were already “translated” to the technical form from the customer’s business requirements.
After a approximately a year, I was getting more challenging projects, where I was not only just plainly implementing tasks, but I did also start work on the Business requirements, discussing the requirements with the Customer and agree on a solution on how to make things work.
Regular business trips were undertaken throughout the year to visit customer sites, provide support with their requirements, facilitate workshops, and deliver presentations about ServiceNow modules. I’ve been working on a lot of projects, where I have used my German language knowledge and also my skills from Software engineering to get better in implementing the requirements that the Customer needed, while also keeping the Best practices from ServiceNow in mind and building a good relationship with the customer and colleagues, keeping the deadlines and providing the best possible outcomes.
While working at Materna Information and Communications in Slovakia, the organizational structure changed at the parent company in Germany and eventually, the ServiceNow business moved under the agineo name. The Company name in Slovakia stayed the same, but basically, we were working under the new brand name for our customers.
Due to my previous experience in coding, my focus area was always the Scripting and more Technical tasks.
Areas I worked on during this time:
- Service Integrations
- Incident Management
- Change Management
- Service Catalog
- Workflows
- and many more…
Internal activities
Naturally, due to my Software Engineering background, I was also involved in internal activities. We developed various Web applications (REST API), created User Interfaces and we’ve been also self-hosting these internally.
Unfortunately beginning 2019 (although the issues/perception came sooner), due to dissatisfaction with the way of working together and the company culture, I left the company to start work at the newly created Devoteam Slovakia branch.
